Podiatry

Our specialist podiatry service provides expert assessment, diagnosis, and non-surgical management of conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower limb to optimise movement, improve performance, and relieve activity-related pain.

The Foundation of Every Movement

Our feet provide the foundation for every step, jump, and movement we make. Structural variations, such as high arches, flat feet (over-pronation), or subtle differences in leg length, can alter lower limb alignment and place excess mechanical stress on joints, muscles, and tendons throughout the body.

While the body often adapts to these structural differences, repetitive stress from daily movement or sports can eventually lead to localised pain, chronic overuse injuries, and movement dysfunction.

Fortius Clinic podiatrists specialise in lower limb biomechanics. By identifying alignment issues, joint restrictions, and abnormal loading patterns, our team creates targeted, personalised treatment plans that alleviate pain, support injury recovery, and enhance overall functional performance.

The Foundation of Every Movement

What to expect at your first appointment

Phase 1

Clinical history & movement screening:

Your podiatrist will review your medical history, sport/activity demands, injury history, and specific pain patterns before evaluating joint range of motion and muscle strength.

Phase 2

Video gait analysis:

You will be recorded standing, walking, and (where appropriate) running on a treadmill. Specialized motion-analysis software is used to evaluate your gait cycle, foot strike, and lower limb alignment in real time.

Phase 3

Footwear evaluation:

Your podiatrist will examine your everyday shoes and sports footwear to inspect wear patterns, structural support, and fit.

Phase 4

Personalised treatment plan:

Based on your diagnostic findings, your podiatrist will formulate a tailored management strategy aligned with your personal goals.

Preparation

What to wear:

Please wear shorts or loose-fitting trousers that can be comfortably rolled up above the knee to allow clear visual assessment of your lower limbs.

Preparation

What to bring:

Bring 2 to 3 pairs of your routinely worn footwear, including your primary everyday shoes, work shoes, and sports-specific footwear (e.g., running shoes, football boots, or ski boot liners).

Supporting athletes and sports performance

Supporting athletes and sports performance

Our podiatry team frequently works with recreational and elite athletes across a wide spectrum of sports, including running, football, rugby, tennis, triathlon, and skiing.

By analysing sport-specific movement patterns and equipment requirements, our podiatrists help athletes overcome persistent mechanical barriers, reduce overuse injury risks, and optimise power transfer and movement efficiency.
